ACTIONS AND USES–

• REDUCES KAFA AND VATA DOSHAS AND ELLIVATES PITTA DOSHA.
• acts as a local anaesthetic and analgesic.
• it is a pupil dilatory.
• it can therefore be given in oedematous conditions, painful conditions, it’s use is prohibited in case of raised intraocular pressure.
• it acts as a stimulant and precipitates convulsions.
• suppress salivation and stomach ache.
• it depresses the heart in small doses and in large doses acts as a stimulants, hence it can be given in angina, arrhythmias and myocardial infarction.
• it relieves cough and dyspnoea conditions also whooping cough.
• it also relieves urinary tract inflammation, renal stones.
• its leaves also relieve diabetes mellitus.
• it acts as an antidote towards opium, Aconitum ferox and acids.
• it relieves itching and excess sweat production.

STANDARD DOSAGE-

• POWER 30 – 60 ml
• BELLADONA TINCTURE- 5 – 30 DROPS
• ATROPINE- 0.25 – 1 mg

ATROPINE POISONING-

• dryness of mouth,
• dilated pupil,
• blurriness of vision,
• dysurea,
• difficulty in swallowing,
• urticarias etc.

TREATMENT-

• STOMACH WASH.
• EMESIS.
• USE OF ANTIDOTES.
• USE OF TANNINS,
• TEA, COFFEE,
• STIMULANTS AND FOMENTATION.

TOLERANCE-

• to be used carefully with infants and old people.
• some people also have a hereditary intolerance to it ,
• specially vata and pitta prakrati people
