Contra: Hypersensitivity

Precautions: Penicillin-sensitive patients, history of allergy, renal impairment, false positive Coombs’ test, false Jaffé method of measuring creatinine levels, false-positive reactions for glucose using copper-reduction reactions

ADR: Serious: Hypersensitivity reactions, transient increases in liver enzyme values, cholestatic jaundice, acute interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, nephrotoxicity, anaphylaxis, bleeding complications, hypoprothrombinemia, platelet dysfunction, thrombophlebitis, pseudomembranous colitis, blood disorders, CNS toxicity, convulsions, Others: Skin rashes, urticaria, eosinophilia, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain at Inj site, local reactions

DDI: Serious Famotidine/Antacids/Ranitidine reduce drug bioavailability

Diet: With food

Monitor: Signs & symptoms of anaphylaxis during first dose
