Indications & Dose: ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE PO Adult IR: Initially 5mg/day (morning dose), increase by 5mg qwk to max dose 20mg/day. Doses > 10mg should be taken in 2 divided doses; ER: Initially 7mg/day, increase by 7 mg/day to max dose 28 mg/day, wait >1 week between dosage changes |

Precautions: CVD, seizures, ophthalmic disease, hepatic/renal impairment ADR: Serious: HTN, cardiac failure, syncope, CVA, transient ischemic attack, hypokinesia, cataract, thromboembolism, pancreatitis, increased libido, Others: conjunctivitis, urinary incontinence, micturition, constipation, dizziness, headache, anxiety, hallucinations, confusion, fatigue, hypertonia DDI: Serious Cotrimoxazole causes myoclonus & confusion, Levodopa effects enhances by drug, Antipsychotics enhances its antipsychotic effects, Sodium Bicarbonate/Acetazolamide reduces drug elimination Diet: With/without food Monitor: Periodic ophthalmic exam |
