Indications & Dose: LATENT TUBERCULOSIS Prophylactic therapy PO Adult 300mg OD 4 month | MYCOBACTERIUM AVIUM COMPLEX IN HIV PATIENTS PO Adult 300mg OD/150mg BID Child 1–12 yr: 5mg/kg, max 300mg OD, 12–18 yr: 300mg OD | NON-TUBERCULOUS MYCOBACTERIAL INFECTIONS PO Adult 450-600mg/day in a multidrug regimen for 6 month after cultures negative Child 1 month–12 yr: 5mg/kg/day 6 months after cultures negative, 12–18 yr: 450–600mg OD 6 months after cultures negative | PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS PO Adult 300mg/day 6 month as part of multidrug regimen Child 12–18 yr: 150–450mg/day 6 month as part of multidrug regimen

Contra: Hypersensitivity, for MAC prophylaxis in patients with active TB

Precautions: hepatic/renal impairment, superinfection

ADR: Serious: neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, hepatitis, hemolysis, ALT/ AST increased, leukopenia, Others: rash, headache, urine discoloration, skin discoloration, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia

DDI: Serious Azithromycin causes neutropenia, Zidovudine/Dapsone clearance increases, Nelfinavir/Indinavir/Saquinavir decreases drug bioavailability, Levonorgestrel/Combined hormonal contraceptives efficacy reduces, Ritonavir increases drug bioavailability, Fluconazole increases drug levels, Voriconazole/Itraconazole increases/decreases the drug level, Atovaquone/Aripiprazole/CCBs/Clarithromycin/Dasatinib/Delavirdine/Ranolazine/Sirolimus levels reduces

Diet: With food

Monitor: Periodic LFTs, CBC, platelet count
