Indications & Dose: PAIN Acute/Moderate-to-severe PO Adult Day 1: 50-100mg q4-6h as needed max 700mg/day, may administer second dose after >1h; Day 2 & subsequent dose: 50-100mg q4-6h as needed max 600mg/day |
Contra: Impaired pulmonary function (severe respiratory depression, acute/severe asthma, hypercapnia), paralytic ileus, use of MAO inhibitors within 14 days, severe hepatic/renal impairment
Precautions: Respiratory disease, CNS depression or coma, biliary tract dysfunction/acute pancreatitis, patients with head injury, moderate hepatic impairment, mild-to-moderate renal impairment, history of seizure/condition predisposing patients to seizure, elderly, debilitated patients ADR: Serious: Respiratory depression, Others: dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, pruritus, constipation, UTI, arthralgia, hot flushes DDI: Serious Desmopressin/CNS Depressants/MAOIs/SSRIs/Thiazides effects increases, Droperidol/Amphetamine/Phenothiazines/Sibutramine increases drug effect Diet: With/without food |
