Indications & Dose: HETEROZYGOUS FAMILIAL/NON-FAMILIAL HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA Mono therapy PO Adult Initially 10mg/day or 20mg/day (if LDL-C > 190 mg/dL) max 40mg/day | HOMOZYGOUS FAMILIAL HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA PO Adult Initially 20mg/day max 40mg/day | HYPERLIPIDEMIA Severe PO Adult 20mg/day | MIXED DYSLIPIDEMIA Mono therapy PO Adult Initially 10mg/day or 20mg/day (if LDL-C >190 mg/dL) max 40mg/day |
Contra: hypersensitivity to drug, active liver disease, increased serum transaminases
Precautions: hematuria/proteinuria, patients at risk of rhabdomyolysis, hepatic/renal impairment, elderly, alcoholics, reduce dose ADR: Serious: anaphylaxis, angioedema, blurred vision, hepatitis, pancreatitis, myopathy, rhabdomyolysis with ARF, Others: GI disturbance, increased CPK levels, rash, headache, dizziness, insomnia, increased serum-aminotransferase DDI: Serious Warfarin effects increases, Gemfibrozil increases ALT levels, Ciclosporin increases drug level, Amiodarone increases incidence of myopathy, Combined hormonal contraceptives plasma levels increases, Antacids reduces drug bioavailability Diet: With/without food Monitor: LFTs, lipid levels |
