Indications & Dose: TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS Combination therapy PO Adult Initially 15-30mg/day with metformin max 45mg/day | Combination therapy PO Adult Initially 15-30mg/day with insulin, dose of insulin should be reduced by 10%-25% if hypoglycemia occurs/if the plasma glucose falls to <100 mg/dL | Combination therapy PO Adult Initially 15-30mg/day with sulfonylurea max 45mg/day. Dose of sulfonylurea should be reduced if hypoglycemia occurs | Mono therapy PO Adult Initially 15-30mg/day, increase by 45mg/day if inadequate response max 45mg/day |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, hepatic impairment, history of heart failure
Precautions: CVD, combination with insulin, substitute insulin during peri-operative period ADR: Serious: HF, hypoglycemia, altered blood lipids, hepatic toxicity, hematuria, Others: GI disturbances, weight gain, edema, headache, dizziness, arthralgia, hypoesthesia, fatigue, insomnia, vertigo, proteinuria DDI: Serious Gatifloxacin causes hypoglycemia, Insulin Regular causes peripheral edema, NSAIDs leads to fluid retention Diet: With/without food Monitor: Glucose, HbA1c, signs/symptoms of HF & LFTs |
