Indications & Dose: POST-OPERATIVE PAIN Short-term therapy IV/IM Adult Initially 40mg, then 20/40mg q6-12h as required, max 80mg/day Elderly <50 kg initially 20mg, repeated to a max 40mg/dayIM given slowly |
Contra: Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, severe hepatic impairment, IBD, moderate-to-severe HF, IHD/PAD/ cerebrovascular disease, post CABG, active peptic ulceration
Precautions: withdraw drug at the first signs of hypersensitivity, HTN, hyperlipidemia, DM, dehydrated patients, GI bleeding ADR: Serious: depression, bronchospasm, neutropenia, visual disturbances, meningitis, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, angioedema, GI bleeding, Others: rashes, drowsiness, headache, vertigo, dizziness, nervousness, tinnitus DDI: Serious Theophylline decreases drug clearance, Diazepam/Dextromethorphan/Flecainide/Imipramine/Propafenone increases drug level, NSAIDs/Aspirin increases risk of GI bleeding, Dexamethasone/Carbamazepine/Fluconazole/Phenytoin/Rifampicin increases the metabolism of drug metabolite |
