Indications & Dose: NON-PRODUCTIVE COUGH PO Adult 10-20mg q4h or 30mg q6-8h, max 120mg/day Child 2-6 yr: 2.5-5mg q4h or 7.5mg q6-8h, max 30mg/day, 6-12 yr: 5-10mg q4h or 15mg q6-8h, max 60mg/day |
Contra: risk of developing respiratory failure, during acute asthma attack, MAO inhibitor use within past 14 days
Precautions: History of asthma, tartrazine sensitivity, DM, children <2 yrs ADR: Others: dizziness, GI disturbances, sedation, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain DDI: Serious Fluoxetine/Amiodarone/Quinidine increases drug level, MAOIs results in hyperpyrexia & coma, SSRIs results in serotonin-like syndrome |
