Indications & Dose: PRIMARY IMMUNIZATION OF CHILDREN AGAINST MEASLES, MUMPS & RUBELLA IM/SC Child 12–15 month: 1 dose of 0.5mL, a reinforcing dose of 0.5mL can be given 2–5 yr after primary dose | PROPHYLAXIS IN SUSCEPTIBLE CHILDREN AFTER EXPOSURE TO MEASLES IM/SC Child >1 yr: 1 dose of 0.5 ml, within 72h of contact |
Contra: hypersensitivity, severely immunosuppressed children, HIV-positive children, malignant disease treated with chemotherapy/radiotherapy, immunosuppressive therapy, transplantation, high-dose systemic corticosteroids, anaphylactic reaction to any antibacterial, children 1 yr
Precautions: acute illness, neurological conditions, alcohol/disinfectant, should give 3wks before/3months after use of immunoglobulin ADR: Serious: unilateral nerve deafness, myalgia, aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, lymphadenopathy, hypersensitivity reactions, bronchospasm, angioedema, parotid swelling, fever with convulsions, thrombocytopenia, anaphylaxis, lymphangitis, influenza like symptoms, arthralgia, arthritis, Others: paresthesia, pharyngitis, asthenia, drowsiness, rash, urticaria, malaise, headache, irritability, loss of appetite, fatigue, dizziness, pain, inflammation, redness, an induration/sterile abscess, GI disturbances DDI: Serious Corticosteroids may develop generalised life-threatening infections, Anti-neoplastics reduces vaccine efficacy |
