Indications & Dose: IMMUNIZATION OF HIV-INFECTED INFANTS AGAINST MEASLES IM Child 1 dose of 0.5mL at 6 months of age, followed by a second dose of 0.5mL at 9 months of age | POST EXPOSURE TO MEASLES Prophylactic therapy IM/SC Adult 1 dose of 0.5mL within 48h of contact in susceptible individuals Child >9 month: Same as adult dose | PRIMARY IMMUNIZATION AGAINST MEASLES IM/SC Child 1 dose of 0.5mL at 9 or 12 months, a reinforcing dose of 0.5mL can be given after 4 wk or up to 6 yr of age |
Contra: hypersensitivity, severely immunosuppressed children, hypersensitivity to egg, malignant disease, immunosuppressive therapy, transplantation, high-dose systemic corticosteroids
Precautions: acute illness, neurological conditions, alcohol/disinfectant, should give 3wks before /3months after use of immunoglobulin ADR: Serious: lymphangitis, SJS, influenza-like symptoms, arthralgia, lymphadenopathy, hypersensitivity reactions, bronchospasm, angioedema, anaphylaxis, thrombocytopenia purpura, encephalitis, loss of hearing, myalgia, Others: pain, inflammation, redness, sterile abscess, gi disturbances, headache, fever, asthenia, drowsiness, rash, urticaria, malaise, paraesthesia, loss of appetite, fatigue, dizziness, irritability DDI: Serious Corticosteroids causes generalised life-threatening infections, Immunosuppressants reduces antibody response to vaccines, Anti-neoplastics reduces efficacy of vaccines |
