Indications & Dose: DRUG INDUCED EXTRAPYRAMIDAL SYMPTOMS PO Adult Initially 1mg/day, increase as required. Usual range 5-15mg/day in 3-4 divided doses | PARKINSON’S DISEASE PO Adult Initially 1mg/day, increases by 2mg at an interval of 3-5 days, usual dose 6-10mg/day in 3-4 divided doses, max15mg/day Elderly Same as adult dose |
Precautions: CVD, history of GI obstruction, renal/hepatic impairment, glaucoma, patients with prostatic hyperplasia and/or urinary stricture
ADR: Serious: tachycardia, blurred vision, glaucoma, Increased IOP, mydriasis, Others: constipation, dilatation of colon, nausea, vomiting, xerostomia, parotitis, urinary retention, rash DDI: Serious Imipramine causes atropine-like psychoses, Fluphenazine/Chlorpromazine leads to heat stroke, Levodopa levels are decreased Diet: With food Monitor: IOP, gonioscopic evaluations performed periodically |
