Contra: Hypersensitivity, exposure to strong sunlight/sunlamps
Precautions: CNS disease, renal impairment, cirrhosis, bradycardia, acute myocardial ischemia, history of tendinitis/tendon rupture with fluoroquinolone use, dialysis patients, elderly, children, epilepsy/history of CNS disorders, G6PD deficiency, myasthenia gravis, with QT prolongation, uncorrected electrolyte disturbances, pre-existing CVD ADR: Serious: Chest pain, pseudomembranous colitis, pancreatitis, visual disturbances, tremor, convulsions, intracranial HTN, psychotic reactions, peripheral neuropathy, hypersensitivity-type reactions, erythema multiforme, SJS, TEN, Tendon damage, crystalluria, hepatitis, blood disorder, hypotension, Others: photophobia, reversible arthralgia/myalgia, rash, depression, drowsiness, nightmares, pharyngitis, headache, dysphagia, restlessness, insomnia, dizziness, fatigue, somnolence, sleep disorders, nervousness, pyrexia, rash/pruritus, diarrhea, vomiting, GI distress, abdominal cramps, xerostomia, appetite decreased, nausea, constipation, vaginitis DDI: Serious Procainamide increases serum levels moderately by drug, Sucralfate markedly reduces absorption of drug, Iron compounds reduces absorption from gut Monitor: Signs & symptoms of superinfection, hypersensitivity reaction, neurologic status |
