Indications & Dose: ACTIVE TUBERCULOSIS Combination therapy IV/IM Adult 15mg/kg/day (up to 1g) as a single daily dose 5-7 times weekly for the first 2-4 months or until culture conversion. Dosing frequency may be reduced to 2-3 times weekly Child <15 yr (or <40 kg): 15-30mg/kg/day, up to 1g given OD/BID, >15 yr (or >40 kg): 15mg/kg/day (up to 1g) as single daily dose 5-7 times weekly for the first 2-4 months or until culture conversion. Dosing frequency can be reduced to 2 or 3 times weekly Elderly >59 yr: 10mg/kg/day (up to 750mg)given along with other anti-tubercular drugs | BACTERIAL INFECT Severe IV Adult 15mg/kg/day 2 or 3 equally divided doses at 8 or 12h intervals Child Same as adult dose | Severe IM Adult 15mg/kg/day in 2 equally divided doses at 12h intervals Child Same as adult dose

Precautions: Parkinsonism, infants, elderly, renal impairment, cystic fibrosis

ADR: Serious: Ototoxicity, reversible nephrotoxicity, ARF, renal impairment, acute tubular necrosis, interstitial nephritis, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, muscular paralysis, respiratory depression, hypersensitivity reactions, blood dyscrasias, neurotoxicity, increased aminotransferase values, Others: confusion, lethargy, hallucinations, convulsions, mental depression, atrophy/fat necrosis, nausea, vomiting, stomatitis

DDI: Serious Methotrexate absorption increased, Gallamine efficacy is increased & prolonged, Etacrynic acid leads to deafness in renal impairment patients by IM route of drug
