Indications & Dose: ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT IV Adult 1mg (10mL of 1:10, 000 solution), may be repeated q2-3min Child 10µg/kg | ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK IM Child 500µg (0.5mL, 1 in 1000 solution) repeat q5min as needed | BRADYCARDIA Symptomatic therapy IV Adult 2-10µg/min or 0.1-0.5µg/kg/min, titrated to desired effect Child 0.01mg/kg (0.1mL/kg of 1:10, 000 solution, max 1mg single dose) q3-5min | IT Child 0.1mg/kg or (0.1ml/kg of 1:1000 Solution, max 2.5mg as single dose) q3-5min | CARDIAC ARREST IV Child Neonates: 0.01-0.03mg/kg (0.1-0.3mL/kg of 1:10, 000 solution) q3-5min until return of spontaneous circulation | OCULAR HYPERTENSION TP Adult Solutions of 0.5%, 1% or 2% is instilled into eye OD/BID | OPEN-ANGLE GLAUCOMA TP Adult Solutions of 0.5%, 1% or 2% is instilled into eye OD/BID | PULSELESS VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA/VENTRICULAR FIBRILLATION IV/IO Adult Initially 1mg for q3-5min until return of spontaneous circulation, increased to 0.2mg/kg if needed Child 0.01mg/kg q3-5min (0.1mL/kg of 1:10, 000 solution) | SELF ADMINISTRATION FOR ANAPHYLAXIS Emergency therapy IM Adult 300µg (0.3mL of 1 in 1000 solution) Child <6 month: 50µg (0.05mL), 6 month-6 yr: 120µg (0.12mL), 6-12 yr: 250µg (0.25mL) |
Contra: Hpersensitivity, angle-closure glaucoma, cardiac dilatation, cardiac insufficiency, cerebral arteriosclerosis, organic brain syndrome, shock resulting from anesthetics/cyclosporine, MAOI use within 2 wks
Precautions: HTN, hyperthyroidism, DM, prostatic hypertrophy, elderly, CVD, thyroid disease, cerebrovascular disease, parkinson’s disease/ patients with TCA ADR: Serious: Cerebral hemorrhage, CVA, ventricular fibrillation, angina, cardiac arrhythmia, HTN, tachycardia, pulmonary edema, urticaria, ECG changes, Others: nervousness, anxiety, tremor, vertigo, headache, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, urinary retention, dysuria, pallor, diaphoresis, hemorrhage at Injection site, ocular irritation, flushing DDI: Serious TCAs results in HTN, cardiac arrhythmia’s, Cocaine results in life-threatening arrhythmias Monitor: Respiratory status, cardiac parameters, BP, injection site (hemorrhage/necrosis) |
