Indications & Dose: INFECT DUE TO STAPHYLOCOCCI RESISTANT TO BENZYLPENICILLIN PO Adult 250-500mg QID Child <2 yr: 25% of daily adult dose QID, >2 yr: 50% of daily adult dose QID |
Contra: Hypersensitivity to penicillins
Precautions: History of allergy to penicillins, renal/hepatic impairment, HF, history of seizure disorder ADR: Serious: Hypotension, seizure, hypersensitivity reactions, angioedema, anaphylaxis, interstitial nephritis, blood disorders, coagulation disorders, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, electrolyte disturbances, Others: inflammation, thrombophlebitis at Inj site, pruritus, rash, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, confusion, fever, lethargy DDI: Serious Mycophenolate active metabolite(s) decreases by drug, Tetracyclines/Fusidic acid diminishes therapeutic effect of drug, Typhoid vaccine/BCG efficacy reduces by drug, Methotrexate excretion decreases by drug, Probenecid increases drug level Diet: 1h before/2h after food Monitor: Signs & symptoms of anaphylaxis (first dose), CBC with differential (prior to initiating therapy & weekly thereafter), periodic BUN, SeCr, LFTs |
