Indications & Dose: HEMOPHILIA PO General Initially 6g immediately after procedure followed by 6g q6h 10 daysIn patients undergoing dental extraction | TREATMENT AND PROPHYLAXIS OF HEMORRHAGE PO General Treatment/prophylaxis: Initially 4-5g, then 1-1.25g q1h for 8h till hemorrhage is controlled max 24g/day | IV General Initially 4-5g 1h as 2% solution, then continuous infusion 1g/h for 8h/till hemorrhage is controlled, max 24g/day |
Contra: hypersensitivity, disseminated intravascular coagulation, neonates
Precautions: rapid IV administration, heart/hepatic/renal failure, upper urinary tract bleeding ADR: Serious: cardiac & hepatic damage, thrombophlebitis, cardiomyopathy, bradycardia, arrhythmias, intrarenal obstruction, bleeding tendency, thrombosis, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, rhabdomyolysis, renal failure, convulsions, pulmonary embolism, Others: rash, dry ejaculation, GI disturbances, dizziness, tinnitus, headache, nasal & conjunctival congestion, rashes, muscle damage, dyspnea DDI: Serious Tretinoin increases signs of active intravascular clotting Monitor: Vital signs, fluid intake & output, ECG, thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism, neurologic status, kidney function, LFTs, electrolyte level, CBC, blood dyscrasias (bleeding tendencies) |
