Indications & Dose: ADVANCED BREAST CANCER PO Adult Females postmenopausal 25mg/day continued until tumor progression | EARLY BREAST CANCER Adjuvant therapy PO Adult 25mg OD (following 2-3 yr of tamoxifen therapy) for 5 yr of endocrine therapy (in the absence of recurrence of contralateral breast cancer) |
Contra: hypersensitivity, premenopausal women, suspected pregnancy
Precautions: concurrent use of estrogen-containing drugs, double the dose (50mg) in patients treated with rifampicin/phenytoin ADR: Serious: arthralgia, MI, angina, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, thromboembolism, HTN, Others: UTI, hyperhidrosis, alopecia, fatigue, insomnia, headache, depression, hot flashes, nausea, abdominal pain, visual disturbances, dermatitis, itching, rash, weight gain, diarrhea, constipation, anorexia, appetite increased, dyspnea, cough, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, URTI, flu-like syndrome, lymphedema, infect DDI: Serious Phenobarbital/Carbamazepine/Phenytoin reduces drug level Diet: After food |
