Precautions: History of allergy, penicillin-sensitive patients, false positive Coombs’ test, renal impairment, false Jaffé method of measuring creatinine level, false-positive reactions for glucose using copper-reduction reactions

ADR: Serious: Blood disorders, hypersensitivity reactions, bleeding complications, hypoprothrombinemia, pseudomembranous colitis, CNS toxicity, convulsions, cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, Others: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain at Inj site, thrombophlebitis

DDI: Serious Probenecid increases levels/effects of drug, Typhoid vaccine/BCG levels/effects decreases by drug

Monitor: Obtain specimen for culture & susceptibility before first dose, signs of anaphylaxis (first dose)
