Indications & Dose: HYPERTHYROIDISM PO Adult Mild: Initially 15mg/day in 3 divided doses; Moderate to severe: Initially 30-40mg/day in 3 divided doses; Severe: Initially 60mg/day in 3 divided doses. MD 5-15mg/day as a single dose in all 3 conditions Child Initially 0.4mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses. For maintenance 0.2mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses |
Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: >40 years of age, concomitant use of myelosuppressive drugs ADR: Serious: agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, granulocytopenia, hypoprothrombinemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hepatic necrosis, hepatitis, jaundice, arthralgia, myalgia, paresthesia, nephritis, insulin autoimmune syndrome, lymphadenopathy, SLE-like syndrome, goiter, hypoglycemic coma, ANCA-positive vasculitis, edema, leukocytoclastic vasculitis, periarteritis, Others: drowsiness, fever, headache, neuritis, vertigo, alopecia, exfoliative dermatitis, pruritus, skin pigmentation, skin rash, urticaria, constipation, epigastric distress, loss of taste perception, nausea, salivary gland swelling, vomiting, weight gain DDI: Others Prednisolone clearance increases, VKAs levels decreases Monitor: Signs of hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, T4, T3, CBC with differential, liver function, Se thyroxine, free thyroxine index, PT |
