Indications & Dose: ASTHMA Inh Adult Initially 150µg (2 sprays) TID/QID Child 6-12 yr: 75/150µg (1 or 2 sprays) TID/QID | Severe Inh Adult 12-16 sprays/day (900-1200µg total) | HAY FEVER IM Adult 40-100mg as a single Inj/season | INFLAMMATION IM Adult 2.5-60mg/dose | Intrasynovial Adult 5-40mg | Intradermal Adult 1mg/site | Intrabursal/ IAT Adult Large joints 5-15mg, Small joints 2.5-5mg | IL Adult 1-30mg (usually 1mg/injection site);10mg/mL suspension | Sublesional Adult 1-30mg | MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS IM Adult 160mg/day 1 wk, then 64mg every other day 1 monthAcute exacerbation | OCCULAR DISEASE Adult Intravitreal: Initially 4mg single dose, may be given additional doses over the course of treatment Child Same as adult dose | ORAL INFLAMMATORY LESIONS/ULCERS TP Adult Apply (about ¼ inch) over the lesion until a thin film develops. Reduce to 110µg/day when symptoms improve or 2 sprays (220µg/day) inhaled in each nostril & if no response, increase to 440µg/day (in divided doses) Child 2-5 yr: 110µg/day as 1 spray in each nostril; 6-11 yr: Initially 110µg/day as 1 spray in each nostril. If no response, increase to 220µg/day as 2 sprays in each nostril. Reduce to 110µg/day when symptoms improve or 220µg/day as 2 sprays inhaled in each nostril; >12 yr: Same as adult dose | POLLEN ASTHMA IM Adult 40-100mg as a single injection/season | VISUALIZATION DURING VIRECTOMY Adult Intravitreal: 1-4mg Child Same as adult dose |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, cerebral malaria, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, systemic fungal infect
Precautions: Thyroid diseases, renal/hepatic impairment, CVD, DM, myasthenia gravis, history of osteoporosis, seizures, Acute MI, GI diseases, elderly, avoid abrupt withdrawal ADR: Serious: arrhythmia, bradycardia, CHF, cardiac arrest, HTN, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, thromboembolism, vasculitis, aseptic necrosis of femoral & humeral heads, pulmonary edema, glaucoma, papilledema, anaphylaxis, GI hemorrhage, DM, pancreatitis, myopathy, osteoporosis, cataracts, Others: diaphoresis, hiccups, abnormal fat deposits, glycosuria, depression, emotional instability, euphoria, meningitis, neuritis, neuropathy, mood changes, abscess, allergic dermatitis, angioedema, dry skin, erythema, hyperpigmentation, impaired wound healing, carbohydrate intolerance, menstrual irregularities, sodium retention, hypokalemia, appetite increased DDI: Serious Diclofenac levels are increased, Aspirin levels are reduced, Digoxin toxicity occurs Monitor: Respiratory status |
