Indications & Dose: ANALGESIC Mild-to-moderate PO Adult 200-400mg/dose q4-6h, max 1.2g/day Child 1–3 months: 5mg/kg TID/QID, 3–6 months: 50mg TID, 6 months–1 yr: 50mg TID/QID, 1–4 yr: 100mg TID, 4–7 yr: 150mg TID, 7-10 yr: 200mg TID, 10-12 yr: 300mg TID, max 30mg/kg/ day in 3–4 divided doses between age of 3 months-12 yr, 12-18 yr: 300-400mg TID/QID, max 2.4g/day, MD 200–400mg TID | ANTIPYRETIC PO Adult 200-400mg/dose q4-6h, max 1.2g/day Child 6 months-12 yr: Temp <102.5°F (39°C): 5mg/kg/dose, temp >102.5°F: 10mg/kg/dose q6-8h, max 40mg/kg/day | CLOSURE OF DUCTUS ARTERIOSUS IV Child Neonate: Initially 10mg/kg as single dose, followed by 2 doses of 5mg/kg at 24 & 48h intervals | INFLAMMATORY DISEASES PO Adult 400-800mg/dose TID/QID, max 3.2g/day | JUVENILE ARTHRITIS PO Child 30–40mg/kg/day in 3–4 divided doses | MIGRAINE PO Adult 2 cap at onset of symptoms, max 400mg/day (1cap: 200mg) | OSTEOARTHRITIS PO Adult 400-800mg TID/QID, dose should be adjusted according to response & tolerance max 3.2g/day | PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA PO Adult 400mg q4h for relief of pain | RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS PO Adult 400-800mg TID/QID, dose should be adjusted according to response & tolerance max 3.2g/day |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, history of asthma, urticaria, allergic-type reaction to aspirin/other NSAIDs, aspirin triad, CABG surgery, active PUD, severe HF, children with varicella
Precautions: HTN, history of PUD, patients with infect, patients with hemorrhagic disorders, renal/hepatic impairment, elderly ADR: Serious: arrhythmias, hypoglycemia, bronchospasm, GI bleeding, renal failure, SJS, anaphylaxis, Prolonged bleeding time, blood disorders, hepatitis, blurred vision, tinnitus, hematuria, allergic reactions, Others: hyperglycemia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, dyspepsia, cystitis, aseptic meningitis, headache, dizziness, nervousness DDI: Serious Aspirin antiplatelet effects antagonises by drug, Ginkgo biloba causes bleeding, Methotrexate clearance reduces by drug, β-blockers/Diuretics efficacy reduces by drug, Warfarin/Valproic acid increased risk of bleeding, Magnesium Hydroxide increases initial absorption of drug, Digoxin level increases slightly by drug, Voriconazole/Fluconazole markedly raises drug level, Colestyramine/Colestipol modestly reduces drug absorption Diet: With food Monitor: CBC, occult blood loss & periodic LFT, inflammation, weight gain, edema, renal function, bleeding, bruising, evaluate GI effects, mental confusion, disorientation, with long-term therapy, periodic ophthalmic exams |
