Indications & Dose: CONTRAST MEDIA INDUCED NEPHROPATHY Prophylactic therapy PO Adult 600mg BID 1 day before & on the day of contrast media administration | MUCOLYTIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE Acute/Chronic Adjuvant therapy Inh Adult Nebulization: 3-5mL of the 20% solution/6-10mL of the 10% solution TID/QID Child Same as adult dose | Acute/Chronic Adjuvant therapy Inh Adult 1-2mL of the 10-20% solution q1h Child Same as adult dose | PARACETAMOL OVERDOSE PO General Loading dose 140mg/kg after 4h, 17 MD of 70mg/kg q4h, until acetaminophen blood level is safe. If patient vomits loading dose/any MD within 1h of administration, repeat that dose< 24h ingestion: Empty stomach by lavage/emesis induction, give sufficient water. If activated charcoal is given, perform lavage before giving acetylcysteine | IV Adult Loading dose 150mg/kg, given over 1h followed by 1st MD 50mg/kg in 7mL/kg Glucose 5% given over 4h, then 2nd MD 100 mg/kg in 14mL/kg Glucose 5% given over 16h Child Neonate/body (< 20 kg): Loading dose 150mg/kg in 3mL/kg Glucose 5% given over 15min, followed by 1st MD 50mg/kg in 7mL/kg Glucose 5% given over 4h, then 2nd MD 100mg/kg in 14 mL/kg Glucose 5% given over 16h, 5-12 yr/ body weight > 20 kg: Loading dose 150mg/kg in 100mL Glucose 5% given over 15min, followed by 1st MD 50mg/kg in 250mL Glucose 5% given over 4h, then 2nd MD 100mg/kg in 500mL Glucose 5% given over 16h

Precautions: Asthma, PUD, renal/hepatic disease, addison’s disease, alcoholism, brain tumor, seizure disorder, hypothyroidism, respiratory insufficiency, psychosis

ADR: Serious: hypotension/HTN, tachycardia, hepatotoxicity, hemoptysis, urticaria, bronchospasm, hypersensitivity, cardiac/respiratory arrest, blurred vision, acidosis, convulsions, Others: flushing, nausea, vomiting, arthralgia, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, rhinorrhea, tracheal & bronchial irritation, rash
