Indications & Dose: DEPRESSION PO Adult Initially 25mg BID/TID, if tolerated increase to 100mg BID/TID Child >15yr: Initially 25-50mg/day, may be increase to 100mg/day in divided doses or as single dose at HS Elderly Initially 25mg/day HS, if tolerated increase by 25mg weekly, max 600mg/day |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, Use of MAOI within past 14 days, MI
Precautions: History of epilepsy, renal/hepatic impairment, elderly, thyroid disease, pheochromocytoma, avoid abrupt withdrawal, anesthesia, untreated angle-closure glaucoma ADR: Serious: Hypotension, allergic reactions, seizures, blood disorders, Others: diarrhea, epigastric distress, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, dizziness, flatulence, libido, irritability, confusion, ataxia, headache, nervousness, restlessness, abdominal pain DDI: Serious MAOIs causes a serious reaction, Noradrenaline/Adrenaline effects are enhanced by drug, Guanethidine/Clonidine effects are reduced by drug, Rifampicin/Barbiturates increase the drug metabolism, Terbinafine increases drug level, Cisapride/Amiodarone/Disopyramide/Sotalol increases risk of ventricular arrhythmias Diet: With food Monitor: BP, ECG & suicidal thoughts |
