Indications & Dose: GOOD MEMORY AND LEARNING PO Child >6yrs and <70kg: Initially 0.5mg/kg/day, increase after min of 3 days to ~ 1.2mg/kg/day as a single dose or in 2 divided doses (morning and late noon/evening) to max 1.4mg/kg/day or 100mg, whichever is less | PO Child >6yrs and >70kg: Initially 40mg/ day, increase after min of 3 days to ~ 80mg/day as a single dose or in 2 divided doses (morning and late noon/evening) to max 100mg/day in 2-4 additional wks to achieve optimal response |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, angle-closure glaucoma, with/within 14 days of MAOIs use
Precautions: history of psychotic illness/bipolar disorder, hepatic disease, renal impairment, hypertension, tachycardia, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease, patients with known/suspected prolonged QT interval ADR: Serious: decreased libido & sexual dysfunction, orthostatic hypotension, syncope, Others: priapism, skin rashes, increased sweating, hot flushes, dyspepsia, GI disturbances, anorexia, weight loss, fatigue, sleep disturbances, dizziness, irritability, sinusitis/rhinorrhoea, cough, urinary hesitancy or retention DDI: Others Sympathomimetics causes additive effects, Drugs that prolong QT interval causes potential interaction, Paroxetine/Fluoxetine increases atomoxetine levels |
