Indications & Dose: HODGKIN’S LYMPHOMA IV/IM/SC Adult 10-20U/m2 once/twice weekly, after 50% response, MD 1U/m2/day (IM/IV) or 5U/m2/wk (IM/IV) | MALIGNANT PLEURAL EFFUSION Intrapleural Adult 50-60U dissolved in 50-100mL of Nacl (0.9%), given through thoracostomy tube | SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA OF HEAD/NECK/SKIN/PENIS/CE IV/IM/SC Adult 10-20U/m2 once/twice weekly | TESTICULAR CARCINOMA IV/IM/SC Adult 10-20U/m2 once/twice weekly |
Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: Renal impairment, elderly, pulmonary infect, pre-existing impairment of pulmonary function, use of oxygen during surgery ADR: Serious: cardiorespiratory collapse, Pulmonary toxicity, interstitial pneumonitis fibrosis, thrombophlebitis, acute anaphylactoid reactions, TEN, Others: onycholysis, anorexia, weight loss, local reactions, rash, erythema, pruritus, vesiculation, hyperkeratosis, nail changes, alopecia, hyperpigmentation, striae, stomatitis, fever, hyperpyrexia DDI: Serious Vinblastine causes Raynaud’s phenomenon, Cisplatin increases pulmonary toxicity of drug by reduces its renal excretion, Colony-stimulating factors induces pulmonary toxicity of drug, Oxygen leads to serious & potentially fatal pulmonary toxicity, Phenytoin levels reduced Monitor: Pulmonary function tests, renal function, LFTs, chest x-ray, temp, body weight at regular intervals |
