Indications & Dose: COMMUNITY-ACQUIRED PNEUMONIA PO Adult 300mg BID 10 days Child >13 yr: Same as adult dose | EXACERBATION OF CHRONIC BRONCHITIS PO Adult 300mg BID 5-10 days or 600mg OD 10 days Child >13 yr: Same as adult dose | MAXILLARY SINUSITIS Acute PO Adult 300mg BID or 600mg OD 10 days Child 6 months-12 yr: 7mg/kg BID or 14mg/kg OD 10 days, >13 yrs: Same as adult dose | OTITIS MEDIA Acute PO Child 6 months-12 yr: 7mg/kg BID 5-10 days or 14mg/kg OD 10 days | PHARYNGITIS/TONSILLITIS Emergency therapy PO Adult 300mg BID 5-10 days or 600mg OD 10 days Child 6-12 yr: 7mg/kg BID 5-10 days or 14 mg/kg OD 10 days, >13 yr: Same as adult dose | SKIN/SKIN STRUCTURE INFECT Uncomplicated PO Adult 300mg BID 10 days Child >13 yr: Same as adult dose | Mild-to-moderate PO Child 6 months-12 yr: 7mg/kg BID 10 days |
Contra: Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
Precautions: Penicillin-sensitive patients, history of allergy, renal impairment, false Jaffé method of measuring creatinine level, false positive Coombs’ test, false-positive reactions for glucose using copper-reduction reactions ADR: Serious: Hypersensitivity reactions, Blood disorders, anaphylaxis, bleeding complications, hypoprothrombinemia, acute interstitial nephritis, cholestatic jaundice, CNS toxicity, convulsions, overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, Others: Skin rashes, urticaria, nausea, vomiting, thrombophlebitis DDI: Serious Ferrous Sulphate/Antacids markedly reduces drug absorption Diet: With/without food Monitor: Renal & hematological status, signs of anaphylaxis (first dose) |
