Indications & Dose: SUSCEPTIBLE INFECT IV/IM Adult 1-2g BID, may be given up to 12g/day in 2-4 divided doses in severe infect |
Contra: Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
Precautions: Penicillin-sensitive patients, renal impairment, false Jaffé method of measuring creatinine level, history of allergy, false positive Coombs’ test, false-positive reactions for glucose using copper-reduction reactions ADR: Serious: hypersensitivity reactions, blood disorders, anaphylaxis, hypoprothrombinemia, bleeding complications, platelet dysfunction, nephrotoxicity, acute interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, transient increases in liver enzyme values, cholestatic jaundice, convulsions, CNS toxicity, colonisation & superinfection with resistant organisms, Others: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, pain at Inj site DDI: Serious Alcohol causes disulfiram-like reaction Monitor: Renal & hematological status, signs of anaphylaxis (first dose) |
