Indications & Dose: ERYTHEMA NODOSUM LEPROSUM PO Adult 200–300mg/day in 2-3 divided doses max 3 month 4–6 wk treatment required before any effect is seen Child 200–300mg/day in 2-3 divided doses max 3 month 4–6 wk treatment required before any effect is seen | MULTIBACILLARY LEPROSY PO Adult Clofazimine 300mg + rifampicin 600mg given once a month, together with daily clofazimine 50mg & dapsone 100mg 1 yr Child 10-14 yr: clofazimine 150mg + rifampicin 450mg & dapsone 50mg once a month, together with dapsone 50mg daily & clofazimine 50mg on alternate days, 1 yr, <10 yr: Based on body wt |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, Type 1 lepra reactions
Precautions: Abdominal pain, diarrhea ADR: Serious: GI bleeding, photosensitivity reactions, Others: headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, conjunctival/corneal/hair/sweat/sputum/breast milk/urine/feces pigmentation, depression, ichthyosis, pruritus, acneiform eruptions DDI: Serious Isoniazid increases drug levels in plasma & urine, Phenytoin levels reduces, Dapsone reduces drug efficacy Diet: With food Monitor: GI adverse effects |
