Indications & Dose: PROSTATIC CARCINOMA Palliative therapy PO Adult Male: 200-300mg/day in 2-3 divided doses following orchiectomy, reduce dose to 100-200mg/day | Palliative therapy IM Adult 300mg (3mL) once weekly, reduce dose in orchiectomized patients to 300mg q2wk |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, active liver disease/hepatic dysfunction, renal impairment, malignant/wasting diseases, severe diabetes with vascular changes, sickle-cell anemia, history of thromboembolic disorders
Precautions: Depression, CVD, DM, patients with familial defects of lipoprotein metabolism, prostate cancer ADR: Serious: Hypotension, MI, HF, stroke, hemorrhage, thrombosis, osteoporosis, hepatitis, jaundice & hepatic failure, infertility, atrophy of seminiferous tubules, abnormal spermatozoa, reduces volume of ejaculate, Others: gynecomastia, reduces libido, enlargement of mammary glands, galactorrhoea, fatigue & weakness, weight changes, dry skin, depression, dizziness, encephalopathy, rashes/hypersensitivity DDI: Serious Alcohol reduces drug efficacy Diet: With food Monitor: LFTs, signs/symptoms of hepatotoxicity, adrenal function |
