Indications & Dose: ACNE/HIRSUTISM PO Adult 2mg cyproterone acetate with 35µg ethinylestradiol OD for 21 days of each menstrual cycle followed by 7 drug free days. 1st tablet should be initiated on the first day of menstrual flow. | Contra: Hypersensitivity, history of /current thrombophlebitis, Stroke/MI, CVD, complicated valvular heart disease, severe HTN, DM with vascular involvement, known/suspected breast carcinoma, endometrial cancer, hepatic dysfunction, major surgery with prolonged immobilization, chronic smokers
Precautions: should not be used with other oral contraceptives, renal impairment, conditions that may be aggravated by fluid retention, depression, history of migraine ADR: Serious: arterial thromboembolism, cerebral hemorrhage/thrombosis, MI, HTN, stroke, dysmenorrhea, breast tenderness, thrombophlebitis, Others: headache, dizziness, migraine, abdominal cramp, vomiting, nervousness, bloating, rash DDI: Serious Artemether/Aminoglutethimide/Carbamazepine/Griseofulvin/Mycophenolate decreases drug level, HIV protease inhibitors decreases PI level, Corticosteroids/Benzodiazepines/Ropinirole/Selegiline/Tranexamic acid/Voriconazole levels increases Diet: After food Monitor: Signs & symptoms of VTE, BP, breast exam, pap smear, lipid profile |
