Indications & Dose: MIGRAINE Acute PO Adult Initially 20-40mg, max 40mg, if headache improves but returns, dose may be repeated after 2 hrs have elapsed since first dose, max 80mg/dayIf initial dose is ineffective, re-evaluate diagnosis |
Contra: Hypersensitivity to drug, Basilar and hemiplegic migraine, Severe hepatic disease, Ischemic heart disease, Peripheral vascular disease, Cerebrovascular syndromes, Uncontrolled hypertension, Ischemic bowel disease, use Within 24 hours of another 5HT1 agonist/ergot derivatives
Precautions: hepatic or renal impairment, DM, hypercholesterolemia, cardiac disorders ADR: Serious: asthenia, paresthesia, cerebrovascular ischemia, chest pain, palpitations, hypertension, cardiovascular ischemia, muscle weakness, chest tightness/pressure, flushing, Others: dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth, hot or cold sensation DDI: Others Nelfinavir/Indinavir/Ritonavir/Verapamil increases eletriptan levels, Fluconazole/Erythromycin/Ketoconazole raises eletriptan levels, St John’s wort preparations Serotonin syndrome Monitor: vital signs and assess for chest pain, tightness/pressure |
