Indications & Dose: PARKINSON’S DISEASE Adjunct therapy PO Adult 200mg with each dose of Levodopa/Carbidopa, max 1600mg/day; may reduce the dose of levodopa by 10-30% within the first few weeks of treatment |
| Contra: pheochromocytoma, history of NMS/nontraumatic rhabdomyolysis, hepatic impairment, hypersensitivity, concomitant use of nonselective MAOIs
Precautions: biliary obstruction, history of dyskinesia, patients at risk of hypotension, caution during driving/operating machinery;, avoid abrupt drug withdrawal ADR: Serious: orthostatic hypotension, Others: diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, dry mouth, flatulence, gastritis, hyperkinesia, back pain, anxiety, taste perversion, nausea, dyskinesia DDI: Others Droperidol increases entacapone levels, CNS Depressants/Alcohol/MAOIs levels increases Diet: Without food Monitor: Signs & symptoms of parkinson’s disease, liver function test, BP, mental status, se iron |
