Indications & Dose: MANIA PO Adult 2.5-10mg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses, based on response increase dose upto20mg/day, MD 1-5mg/day Elderly Initially 1-2.5mg/day, gradually increase upto 10mg/day | IM Adult Initially 12.5mg (as decanoate), based on response may increase to 12.5-100mg at the intervals of 2-5 wks Elderly Initially start with low dose 6.25mg | SCHIZOPHRENIA PO Adult 2.5-10mg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses, based on response increase dose upto20mg/day, MD 1-5mg/day Elderly Initially 1-2.5mg/day, gradually increase upto 10mg/day | IM Adult Initially 12.5mg (as decanoate), based on response may increase to 12.5-100mg at the intervals of 2-5 wks Elderly Initially start with low dose 6.25mg | SEVERE ANXIETY/BEHAVIOURAL DISTURBANCES Adjunct therapy/Short-term therapy PO Adult Initial 1mg BID, increase to 2mg BID if necessary

ADR: Serious: NMS, seizures, blood disorders, paralytic ileus, hepatitis, hypotension, tachycardia, blurred vision, Others: dry eyes, nasal congestion, constipation, dry mouth, anorexia, urinary retention, inhibited ejaculation, priapism, rash, sterile abscess, drowsiness, sedation, extrapyramidal reactions

DDI: Serious Antimuscarinics causes heat stroke & antagonizes antipsychotic effect, Carbamazepine decreases drug level, Alcohol leads to extrapyramidal adverse effects (akathisia, dystonia), Antacids reduces bioavailability

Monitor: Vital signs, lipid profile, FBG/Hgb A1c, BMI, mental status, abnormal involuntary movement scale, EPS
