Indications & Dose: ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES SC Adult 150IU of follitropin alfa given in the early follicular phase (cycle 2 or day 3) until sufficient follicular development occurs. Dose may be increased to 225IU/day in patient with suppressed endogenous gonadotropin levels (> 35 yr). Continue therapy until adequate follicular development is indicated. May adjust dose after 5 days based on the patient response, adjust subsequent dosage q3-5days by <75-150IU additionally at each adjustment. Once adequate follicle development is evident, administer hCG to induce final follicular maturation in preparation for oocyte. Discontinue hCG if the ovaries are abnormally enlarged. | FEMALE INFERTILITY IM/SC Adult Initially 75-150units/day for 7 or 14 days, dose may increase at 7 or 14 day interval until an adequate response is achieved, treatment is then stopped & followed after 1 or 2 days by a single dose of chorionic gonadotrophin 5000-10000 units to induce ovulation | MALE INFERTILITY SC Adult Initiate with hCG pretreatment until serum testosterone in normal level, then 150IU of follitropin alfa/beta 3 times/wk with hCG 3 times/wk, continue with lowest dose needed to induce spermatogenesis, max 300IU 3 times/wk 18 months |
