Indications & Dose: CYTOMEGALOVIRUS INFECT IV Adult Inf: Initially 5mg/kg q12h 14-21 days, followed by MD 5mg/kg/day single dose 7 days or 6mg/kg/day for 5 days/wk | Prophylactic therapy IV Adult Inf: Initially 5mg/kg q12h 7-14 days, followed by MD 5mg/kg/day single dose 7 days or 6mg/kg/day for 5 days/wk in immunocompromised patients, specifically those receiving immunosuppressive therapy after organ transplantation

Precautions: Renal impairment, history of cytopenia, low platelet count, radiotherapy, children, ensure adequate hydration during IV administration

ADR: Serious: Blood disorders, pancreatitis, arrhythmias, anaphylactic reactions, hematuria, arthralgia, renal impairment, myalgia, Others: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, fever, macular edema, retinal detachment, taste disturbance, dermatitis, pruritus, mouth ulcers, psychosis, tremor, male infertility, alopecia, disturbances in hearing & vision

DDI: Serious Tacrolimus causes additive neurotoxicity or nephrotoxicity, Probenecid increases drug levels, Zidovudine leads to increase in hematological toxicity

Monitor: CBC, platelet count, SeCr
