Indications & Dose: TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS Chronic PO Adult Initially 2.5–5mg/day, up to 15mg may be given as single dose, max 20mg/day |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, type 1 DM, DKA
Precautions: Elderly, hepatic/renal impairment ADR: Serious: Hypoglycemia, hyponatremia, thrombocytopenia, hepatitis, maculopapular eruptions, morbilliform eruptions, eczema, Others: dizziness, headache, epigastric fullness, nausea, paresthesia, myalgia, constipation, nervousness, myalgia, insomnia DDI: Serious Fluconazole causes hypoglycemic coma, Cyclosporine levels are increased by two folds, Cholestyramine reduces drug absorption, Rifampicin reduces drug effects, Erythromycin/Clarithromycin/Gatifloxacin/Heparin results in hypoglycemia Diet: Before food (30 mins) Monitor: Hypoglycemia, blood glucose & HbA1c |
