Indications & Dose: PARKINSON’S DISEASE PO Adult Initially levodopa 100mg & carbidopa 10mg BID, increase levodopa by 100mg, max 1.5g & carbidopa 10mg q few days as needed |
| Contra: Severe psychiatric illness, abrupt withdrawal/rapid dose increment, concurrent use of MAOIs, angle closure glaucoma, confirmed/suspected malignant melanoma
Precautions: Pulmonary disease, PUD, CVD, DM, osteomalacia, open-angle glaucoma, history of melanoma, psychiatric illness, elderly ADR: Serious: postural hypotension, tachycardia, arrhythmias, flushing, GI bleeding, peripheral neuropathy, liver enzyme changes, psychiatric symptoms, dyskinesia, painful dystonic spasms, NMS, hypersensitivity, Others: delusions, nausea, anorexia, vomiting, taste disturbances, rash, reddish discoloration of body fluids, insomnia, headache, drowsiness, sudden onset of sleep, confusion, vivid dreams, dizziness Diet: With food Monitor: LFTs, CBC, psychiatric, cardiovascular, renal function |
