Indications & Dose: BRONCHOSPASM Inh Adult MDI: 1-2 puffs (45µg/puff) q4-6h (quick relief), Nebulization: 0.63-1.25mg q8h as needed (quick relief) Child MDI: 5-11 yr: 1-2 puffs (45µg/puff) q4-6h as needed (quick relief), Nebulization (quick relief): <4 yr: 0.31-1.25mg q4-6h as needed, 5-11 yr: 0.31-0.63mg q8h as needed >12 yrs: Same as adult dose | Acute Inh Adult 1 or 2 inh equivalent to 45µg repeated q4-6h if needed. 630µg inhaled via nebuliser TID, may increase to 1.25mg TID Child = 4 Yrs: Same as adult dose | EXACERBATION OF ASTHMA Acute/Severe Inh Adult MDI: 4-8 puffs (45µg/puff) q20min up to 4h then q1-4h as needed. Nebulization: 1.25-2.5mg q20min for 3 doses, then 1.25-5mg q1-4h as needed. Child MDI: 5-11 yr: 4-8 puffs (45µg/puff) q20min for 3 doses, then q1-4h as needed, >12 yr: Same as adult dose. Nebulization : <11yr: 0.075mg/kg q20min for 3 doses, then 0.075-0.15mg/kg q1-4h as needed (min 1.25mg, max 5mg), >12 yrs: Same as adult dose |
Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: CVD, DM, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, hypokalemia, HTN ADR: Serious: Angina, angioedema, arrhythmia, asthma, atrial fibrillation, diaphoresis, dyspnea, epistaxis, gastroenteritis, hematuria, hypotension, hypokalemia, hyperglycemia, lymphadenopathy, myalgia, nasal edema, paresthesia, pharyngitis, rash, rhinitis, sinusitis, tremor, Others: anxiety, cough, conjunctivitis, diarhhea, dizziness, dysmenorrhea, dyspepsia, headache, insomnia, leg cramps, vaginal moniliasis, vertigo, viral infection, vomiting, wheezing, weakness, xerostomia DDI: Serious β-blockers Monitor: Asthma symptoms and other pulmonary function tests, heart rate, BP, CNS stimulation, arterial blood gases, serum potassium, serum glucose |
