Indications & Dose: BRAIN TUMORS/HODGKIN’S DISEASE PO Adult 130mg/m2 as single dose q6 wk. Do not repeat dose until platelet count is >100, 000/mm3 & WBC count >4, 000/mm3. In individuals with bone marrow suppression, reduce the initial dosage to 100mg/m2 given q6wk |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity
Precautions: Renal/hepatic impairment, bone marrow suppression ADR: Serious: Myelosuppression, acute leukemia, alkaline phosphatase increased, blood disorders, bilirubin increased, pulmonary fibrosis, renal failure, optic atrophy, pulmonary infiltrates, blindness, dysarthria, bone marrow dysplasia, Others: nausea & vomiting, alopecia, lethargy, ataxia, azotemia, disorientation, stomatitis, visual disturbances DDI: Serious Theophylline causes thrombocytopenia & bleeding, Cimetidine increases bone marrow depressant effects Diet: With fluids on an empty stomach/no food/drink for 2h after administration Monitor: CBC with differential & platelet count, hepatic & renal function tests (periodic), pulmonary function tests |
