Indications & Dose: CYSTIC FIBROSIS IV Adult 2g TID | EXACERBATIONS OF CHRONIC LOWER RESPIRATORY-TRACT INFECT IV Child <50 kg: Inf: 40mg/kg TID, 12-18 yr (>50 kg): 2g TID | INTRA-ABDOMINAL INFECT IV Child >3 months (<50 kg): 20mg/kg q8h, max 1g TID | MENINGITIS IV Adult 2g q8h Child >3 months (<50 kg): 40mg/kg q8h, max 2g TID | RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECT IV Adult 1g TIDincluding hospital-acquired, ventilator-associated/ health-care-associated infections | SEPTICEMIA IV Adult 0.5-1g TID | SKIN/SKIN STRUCTURE INFECT Complicated IV Adult 500mg TID, for diabetic foot 1g TID Child >3 months (<50 kg): 10mg/kg TID, max 500mg TID, >50 kg: Same as adult dose |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, previous anaphylactic reactions to other ß-lactams
Precautions: Sulfite sensitivity, renal disease, seizure disorder ADR: Serious: Seizures, HF, cardiac arrest, MI, pseudomembranous colitis, leukopenia, bone marrow depression, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, anaphylaxis, hypotension, phlebitis, Others: palpitations, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, oral candidiasis, glossitis, vaginal candidiasis, anemia, dyspnea, rash, fungal infect, erythema at Inj site, headache, insomnia, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness DDI: Serious Probenecid increases drug level, Valproic acid serum level reduces & seizure may occur Monitor: Signs of anaphylaxis (first dose & prolonged therapy), RFT, LFTs, CBC |
