Indications & Dose: EDEMA PO Adult Initially 2.5-10mg OD, may increase to 20mg/day Elderly Initially 2.5mg/day or q48h | HYPERTENSION PO Adult Initially 1.25mg, may be adjusted after 3-4 wks according to response, MD 5mg for q48h Elderly Initially 2.5mg/day or q48h |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, anuria, hepatic coma, severe hepatic impairment (in whom encephalopathy may be precipitated), Addison’s disease
Precautions: Prediabetes/DM, severe renal impairment, gout, hyperparathyroidism, glucose tolerance abnormalities, fluid/electrolyte imbalances, bipolar disorders, elderly, hepatic cirrhosis ADR: Serious: Venous thrombosis, arrhythmias, pancreatitis, blood disorders, hepatitis, hypokalemia, hypochloremic alkalosis, hypotension, Others: nausea, vomiting, bloating, cramping, anorexia, polyuria, erectile dysfunction, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, hypovolemia, hyperglycemia, hyperuricemia, photosensitivity, rashes, Drowsiness, lethargy, vertigo, paresthesia, weakness, headache, fatigue, chest pain DDI: Serious Indomethacin reduces urinary sodium excretion in response to drug Diet: With food (after breakfast) Monitor: Serum electrolytes (potassium, sodium, chloride, bicarbonate), renal function, BP (standing, sitting/supine) |
