Indications & Dose: ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS PO Adult 0.5-1g/day in 2 divided doses, may increase to 1.5g/day (for limited time period) | BURSITIS PO Adult Initially 500mg then 250mg q6-8h max 1.25g/day | DYSMENORRHEA PO Adult Initially 500mg followed by 250mg q6-8h as needed max dose after first day 1.25g/day | FEVER PO Adult 200mg BID/TID Child >12 yr: Same as adult dose | GOUT Acute PO Adult Initially 750mg, then 250mg q8h until attack has passed | JUVENILE IDIOPATHIC ARTHRITIS PO Child >2 yr: 10mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses | MIGRAINE PO Adult 750mg at first symptom of an impending attack if required this may be followed after at least 30-60min by further doses of 250-500mg throughout the day max 1.25g as total daily dose | MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS Acute PO Adult Initially 500mg, then 250mg q6-8h as needed, max dose after first day 1.25g/day | OSTEOARTHRITIS PO Adult 0.5-1g/day in 2 divided doses, may increase to 1.5g/day (for limited time period) | PAIN Mild-to-moderate PO Adult Initially 500mg then 250mg q6-8h max 1.25g/day | RHEUMATIC DISEASE PO Adult 0.5–1g/day in 1–2 divided doses | TENDONITIS Acute PO Adult Initially 500mg then 250mg q6-8h max 1.25g/day |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, perioperative pain in CABG surgery, active PUD, severe HF, children with varicella, history of hypersensitivity reactions, Severe renal impairment
Precautions: Children <2 yrs, elderly, hepatic impairment, HTN, mild-to-moderate renal impairment, patients with asthma, history of PUD, patients with infect, patients with hemorrhagic disorders ADR: Serious: tachycardia, visual disturbances, tinnitus, anaphylaxis, edema, allergic reactions, Others: Rectal irritation & bleeding, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, vertigo, light-headedness, palpitations, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, abdominal pain, stomatitis, rash, pruritus, skin eruptions, sweating, photosensitivity DDI: Serious Clopidogrel causes GI bleeding, Alendronic Acid increases the incidence of gastric mucosal damage & upper GI disorders, Zidovudine increases the risk of bleeding in HIV-positive patients with hemophilia, Prednisolone level increases by drug, Ciprofloxacin may develop convulsions/other neurological toxicity/skin eruptions, Probenecid reduces drug clearance & increases its level Diet: With food Monitor: Occult blood loss, periodic LFTs, CBC, BUN, SeCr, urine output |
