Indications & Dose: ANGINA PECTORIS PO Adult 80-160mg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses max 320mg/day | ANXIETY PO Adult 40-80mg/day in 1 or 2 divided doses | CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS PO Adult 40mg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses max 240mg/day | HYPERTENSION PO Adult 80-160mg/day in 2 or 3 divided doses, increase at weekly/fortnightly intervals till satisfactory response is achieved max 480mg/day |
Contra: bronchospasm, asthma, history of COPD, severe PAD, sinus bradycardia, second/third-degree AV block, uncontrolled HF, Prinzmetal’s angina
Precautions: first-degree AV block, pheochromocytoma, psoriasis, during drug withdrawal ADR: Serious: HF, heart block, bronchospasm, shortness of breath, Raynaud’s syndrome, blurred vision, conjunctivitis, hematological reactions, SLE, increased LFTs, sclerosing peritonitis, Others: male impotence, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, rash, reversible alopecia, paresthesia, arthralgia, myopathies, fatigue, coldness of extremities DDI: Serious Salbutamol/Isoprenaline/Terbutaline antagonizes the effect, Hormonal Contraceptives increases drug plasma levels, Anticholinesterase drugs leads to myasthenic symptoms, Tobacco reduces efficacy of drug, Sulfinpyrazone reduces/abolishes drug effects |
