Indications & Dose: CONSTIPATION Symptomatic therapy PO Adult 10-30mL in divided doses Child 3-5 yr: 2.5-5mL, 5-12 yr: 5-10mL, >12 yr: Same as adult dose; Emulsion: 3-12 yr: 0.5-1mL/kg/day, max 30mL, 12-18 yr: Same as adult dose | RECTAL Adult 120mL (as enema) |
Contra: prolong therapy, abdominal pain/nausea/vomiting, children (<3 yrs)
Precautions: patients who have difficulty in swallowing / with impaired neurodevelopment (due to aspiration risk) ADR: Serious: foreign-body granulomatous reactions, lipoid pneumonia Diet: Before breakfast & at night (not before going to bed) |
