Indications & Dose: DYSTONIA PO Child 7–12 yr: 1.25mg TID, 12–18 yr: 2.5mg TID | Acute IV/IM Child <2yr: 0.5–2mg/day, 2-10yr: 2–5mg/day, 10-18yr: 5-10mg/day as single dose | PARKINSON’S DISEASE PO Adult Initially 2.5mg TID may be increased to 2.5-5mg q2-3days, MD 10-30mg/day in 3-4 divided doses, max 60mg Elderly Low dose | Emergency therapy IV Adult 5-10mg | Emergency therapy IM Adult 5-10mg as single dose repeat after 20min if needed max 20mg/day |
| Contra: myasthenia gravis, GI obstruction, paralytic ileus, history of prostate enlargement, glaucoma
Precautions: CVD, psychotic disorders, avoid abrupt withdrawal ADR: Serious: angle-closure glaucoma, Others: constipation, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, euphoria, hallucinations, anxiety, urinary retention, blurred vision, restlessness DDI: Serious Paroxetine increases drug level, Fluphenazine/Chlorpromazine/Haloperidol levels are reduced |
