Indications & Dose: MYASTHENIA GRAVIS PO Adult Initialiy 60mg TID, MD 60mg-1.5g, max 600mg Child 7mg/kg/day divided in 5-6 doses | NEONATAL MYASTHENIA GRAVIS PO Child 5mg q4-6h | IM Child 0.05-0.15mg/kg q4-6h | POSTOPERATIVE URINARY RETENTION/PARALYTIC ILEUS PO Adult 60-240mg | REVERSE NEUROMUSCULAR BLOCKADE IV Adult 10-20mg with/preceded by atropine (0.6-1.2mg) to counteract any muscarinic effects |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, GI/ GU obstruction
Precautions: Asthma, CVD, seizure, hyperthyroidism, children ADR: Serious: Arrhythmias, AV block, cardiac arrest, hypotension, syncope, ECG changes, convulsions, arthralgia, myalgia, muscle cramps, bronchospasm, anaphylaxis, respiratory arrest, respiratory muscle paralysis, lacrimation, thrombophlebitis, fasciculations, paralysis, Others: dizziness, drowsiness, dysphonia, loss of consciousness, dyspnea, urticaria DDI: Serious Procainamide/Norfloxacin aggravates myasthenic symptoms, β-blockers causes bradycardia & hypotension, Ranitidine reduces drug renal clearance Diet: Monitor: vital signs, ECG, CVS& respiratory status |
