Indications & Dose: PASSIVE IMMUNIZATION AGAINST RABIES Combination therapy IM Adult 20 IU/kg of human rabies immunoglobulin (HRIG) or 40IU/kg of pepsin-digested or highly purified equine rabies immunoglobulin (ERIG). The dose should be infiltrated in and around the cleansed wound if infiltration of whole volume is not possible, should be given deep IM inj. It always given along with rabies vaccine Child Same as adult dose |
| Precautions: use with caution in patients with isolated immunoglobulin, patients with thrombocytopenia or coagulation disorders IM inj should avoid, if hypersensitivity & anaphylactic reactions occur treatment with epinephrine is must
ADR: Serious: nephrotic syndrome, anaphylaxis, Others: fever, headache, malaise, angioneurotic edema, rash, injection site pain, stiffness, soreness, tenderness |
