Indications & Dose: LATENT TUBERCULOSIS PO Adult 10mg/kg/day, max 600mg/day for 4 month Child 10-20mg/kg/day, max 600mg/day for 6 month | MENINGITIS PO Adult 600mg/day | MULTIBACILLARY LEPROSY Combination therapy PO Adult 600mg monthly once with dapsone & clofazimine Child 450mg monthly once with dapsone & clofazimine | PAUCIBACILLARY LEPROSY Combination therapy PO Adult 600mg monthly once with dapsone Child 450mg monthly once with dapsone | TUBERCULOSIS PO Adult Daily therapy: 10mg/kg/day, max 600mg, DOT therapy: 10mg/kg thrice weekly, max 600mg/day Child Daily therapy & DOT therapy: 10-20mg/kg/day, max 600mg |
Contra: Hypersensitivity, jaundice, previous history of hepatic damage
Precautions: Porphyria, alcoholism, renal/hepatic disease, convulsions, flu-like syndrome, meningococcal disease ADR: Serious: pancreatitis, myalgia, pseudomembranous colitis, jaundice, osteomalacia, conjunctivitis, ARF, hematuria, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, Others: anorexia, flatulence, vomiting, menstrual disorders, dizziness DDI: Serious Zidovudine/Delavirdine increases drug toxicity, Isoniazid leads to hepatotoxicity, Enalapril/Cyclosporine/Verapamil level reduces, Itraconazole/Fluconazole/Ketoconazole/Nevirapine levels decreases, Buspirone/Aprepitant/Chloramphenicol/Dapsone/Diazepam/Quinidine/SSRIs/β-blockers levels reduces, Magnesium Hydroxide/Aluminum Hydroxide Gel/Sodium Bicarbonate reduces drug absorption, Hormonal Contraceptives reduces estrogen level, HIV protease inhibitors results in hepatotoxicity Diet: Before food Monitor: Liver function (AST, ALT, bilirubin), CBC, mental status, sputum culture, chest x-ray 2-3 months |
