Indications & Dose: PRETERM LABOR IV Adult Inf: Initially 50µg/min increased by 50µg/min every 10min till therapeutic response is achieved, max rate 150-350µg/min. Continue inf for 12-48h after the contractions have stopped. Administer 10mg PO q2h for 24h 30min before the end of IV inf followed by 10-20mg q4-6 h according to patient’s response max 120 mg/day |
| Contra: Hypersensitivity, tachyarrhythmias, eclampsia & severe pre-eclampsia, IHD
Precautions: Pulmonary edema, severe asthma, DM, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, hypokalemia, seizures, Susceptibility to QT-interval prolongation, HTN, CVD ADR: Serious: leucopenia /agranulocytosis, tremor, palpitations, tachycardia, nervous tension, peripheral vasodilatation, hypokalemia, MI, hypersensitivity, RTI, Others: nausea/vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, vertigo, headache DDI: Serious Corticosteroids/Amphotericin-B/Loop diuretics/Thiazides causes hypokalemia, Glycopyrrolate causes SVT, Atropine causes tachycardia, Cyclopropane leads to HTN Diet: Monitor: Maternal pulse, state of hydration |
